8TH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE







 

       A new set of Pakistan postage stamps was issued on the 14th August, 1955. This series is devoted to the progress made by Pakistan in the field of industrialization and comprises four public postage stamps of 2-anna,6-anna,8-anna and 12-anna and one service postage stamp of 8-anna denomination as described below.
       The designs and colour scheme were selected by the Posts and Telegraphs Department. The engraving was done by Messrs. Thomas De La Rue & Co. Ltd., London and the printing by the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation Ltd., Karachi. Each sheet of every denomination comprises a set of eighty stamps.










12-anna.Casement : maroon; vignette ; flame; illustrates the main Sui Gas Plant. It is the first stamp of Pakistan produced in two colours. Flames of Sui Gas are in their natural colour with their reflection on the foreground.(Perf.13)
2-anna;deep red in colour; depicts a view of the Karnaphuli Paper Mill, East Pakistan. Urdu fraction for denomination is on right.(Perf.13)
2-anna;scarlet in colour; depicts a view of the Karnaphuli Paper Mill, East Pakistan. Urdu fraction for denomination is on left .(Perf.13)
8-anna.violet in colour; shows a view of a Jute Mill in East Pakistan.(Perf.13)
6-anna.bright blue in colour; bears an illustration of a Textile Mill in West Pakistan.(Perf.13)
